عندما اعتنق الإسلام غير اسمه إلى يوسف ريس أو الريس يوسف وتزوج من فتاة كانت قد اعتنقت الإسلام ايضًا اسمها ياسمينا الصقلية.
كان معروفًا عن جاك انه سكير ولكنه امتنع عن شرب الخمر تمامًا بعد اعتناقه الإسلام.
